Newsletter

Dear friends,
December has arrived, 2008 is running on its last legs and everyone is looking forward to celebrating the seasonal holidays. However, before we reach the celebration bit, we have a few exciting things to announce:

THT Highland Services has a new manager; his name is Stewart Cunningham, he joined us on 1st December 2008. Once he has recovered from his move from Lanarkshire he will be getting around his new ‘patch’, so look out for him. Stewart would be happy to meet service users and representatives of partner agencies at our Inverness offices over the coming weeks – so drop in!

From this month onwards we are offering a new service to all our service users, Complementary Care. A group of qualified practitioners offer you massage, reflexology, osteopathy, metamorphic technique, acupuncture and dietary advice. Included with the newsletter, you can find a leaflet that explains it in more detail. Please ring our office for more information or to make an appointment - a nice treat for yourself just before the end of the year?

This month’s programme is slightly different from usual: the T group (for people identifying as transgender), LGBT Caithness (social group for LGBT people) and the HIV+ support group are each having a meal out which is great. People have been meeting regularly over the year, friendships have developed, support has been given and it is lovely to enjoy each other’s company over a meal. So, I hope that you look forward to these events as much as I do and I look forward to meeting some of you there. Don’t forget that there is also the film evening; we are starting to have a regular little group of people who come along and enjoy watching not just any movies but good quality LGBT movies. You do not see them very often in mainstream film theatres!

The many corners of Argyll and Bute have been receiving World Aids Day posters and red ribbons – hopefully you’ll spot a poster at your local surgery or a red ribbon pinned to the person of your doctor, nurse, teacher or youth worker. And Katrina will be talking to young people in Tarbert, Lochgilphead and Tobermory about HIV, and LGBT equality at the beginning of December, which should be a lot of fun!

Happy New Year from the whole team!
