Dear
Friends,

Holidays
The brilliant May weather made us all think of holidays, of relaxing, of travelling to new places and meeting new friends. Keep a nice place in your suitcase not only for the latest swimsuit, protective sun cream, books that you did not find the time to read, music you will finally be able to listen to……. but also for a nice selection of your favourite condoms/femidoms, lube and your preferred flavour of dams. You can order condoms from THT and we will post them to you – completely free! Or you can call in to our centre in Inverness and make your own “pick-and-mix” selection. Make it a really nice holiday with only happy memories, and no unwanted souvenirs!!

Parenting
Some important legal news! On 19th May, single women and lesbian couples won landmark parental rights as MPs voted to remove the requirement that fertility clinics consider a child’s need for a father. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill will replace the rule with a “need for supportive parenting”. The decision means that the legislation will grant the most significant extension to homosexual family rights since gay adoption was sanctioned. It will stop fertility clinics turning away lesbians and single women on the grounds that their children will not have a father or male role model.

Music festivals
The Sexual Health Marquee, a collaboration between NHS Highland, Brook and THT, will be present at the following music festivals this year: Rock Ness (7-8 June), Belladrum (8-9 August) and Connect (30-31 August). Please feel free to come and say hello, to browse through the brochures and to pick up condoms, femidoms, lube and dams. If you would like to volunteer for any of these events, then please get in touch with me. You are very welcome.

Enjoy, have a great month!

Aimee and Jaguar

Nominated for a Golden Globe and German’s offical submission for a Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award, Max Farberbock’s Aimee & Jaguar is the tender accont of a forbidden love affair set against the backdrop of wartime Germany.

In performances that garnered them Silver bears at the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival, Julian Kohler (Lily Wust) and Maria Schrader (Felice Schragenheim) play the epynomous Aimee & Jaguar, an exampler of Nazi motherhood and a politically committed Jewess respecively who embark on a transgressive love affair that will ultimately shatter their lives.

Based on a true story and powerfully dramatised, it is an uplifting love story totally unlike any other.
